FAQs

At New Look Institute, we are committed to keeping you fully informed about our studio and the hair loss solutions that we offer. To help you get answers quickly, we’ve assembled a list of frequently asked questions. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, reach out to us, and we’ll be happy to assist you.

  • Why am I losing hair? (Often asked as: “What is that one thing that is making me lose hair?”)
The answer is not simple. Some guidelines can be set, but a thorough analysis of your scalp, hormonal changes, medications, diet, and genetics can yield some answers and possible solutions.
  • Is it normal to lose 100 hairs per day?
Most people have that many or more hairs shedding during the normal hair cycle. During the spring and fall seasons, the number may increase and this is called Seasonal Shedding. Working with a professional may help you control any unusual hair shedding before it becomes hair loss.
  • If I have early stages of hair loss, do I need to use a hair replacement?
The earliest we start treating a problem scalp that may be causing hair loss, the best our success rate will be.
  • What options do I have for thinning hair?
Fortunately, there are more options now than a few years ago. They range from preventive to remedies. What will work for you depends on many factors, and it is helpful to work with a trichologist specialist to find what will work best for you.
  • Is an oily or itchy scalp a sign that hair will start falling out soon?
A normal oily scalp or occasional itching are not necessarily linked to hair loss. Yet, these can be signs that the scalp needs help before hair loss starts. The best way to determine if you have scalp issues that may lead to hair loss is to work with a specialist or a trichologist.
  • Should I treat my thinning hair myself?
The information available on the internet is general and difficult to apply to each individual case. We find people who come to us feel better working with a professional to guide them through the best solution for each individual.
  • If I do a procedure like hair transplant or non-surgical hair replacement, will my hair loss stop?
This is a common misconception. Hair loss does not stop when some remedies are applied. It is best to discuss these issues with a hair loss specialist to find a way to keep the hair you have.
